When someone says “Charyot!” to you, you must stop whatever you are doing and take the Charyot Sogi (차렷 서기) salute position, facing the person you are bowing and ready to bow.
Each bow must be performed correctly, as it is an important sign of respect and discipline.
It is also important to remain silent during the salute, except to say “Taekwon!”.
How to perform the stance:
- Heels are together and feet are at an angle.
- Arms are relaxed and slightly bent.
- The fists are clenched.
- Lean slightly forward during the bow.
- Continue to look straight ahead.
- Stand up straight without moving after the bow.
