Sonkal Kaunde Daebi Makgi (손칼 가운데 대비 막기) is a guarding technique performed with the edge of the hand in an intermediate position. It is used as a preparatory position when facing an opponent, ready to block or follow up with an attack.
This technique requires stability, precision, and vigilance. It expresses an active defensive attitude: the practitioner is protected while being ready to react immediately.
Stance rules :
The legs are generally positioned in niunja sogi (L-shape stance), providing stability and mobility.
Most of the body weight is distributed on the rear leg (approximately 70%).
The front hand is placed at solar plexus height, with the edge facing the opponent.
The rear hand is positioned in front of the chest, protecting the midsection.
The gaze is fixed on the opponent, with concentration and determination.
