Charyot Sogi

Charyot Sogi (차렷 서기) is the posture adopted before bowing (Kyong-rye – 경례).

It is important to remain focused and silent in this position and to put down any objects you are holding (such as a shield pad or a kick paddle).

Stance rules :

  • The feet form an angle of approximately 45°.
  • The arms fall naturally, with the elbows slightly bent.
  • The fists are clenched.
  • The gaze is directed straight ahead, toward the person.

Kyong-rye – 경례 mean “bow” in korean. Depending on the situation, you will hear what we bow before (the instructor, the flag, or something else).

The beginning and end of the class always start with a bow to the instructor and assistant instructors, if there are any.

Never forget to bow to your partner before starting an exercise with them, even if the instructor does not ask you to do so. Respect and good manners are essential in the practice of Taekwon-Do, regardless of the partner.

When your instructor says “Junbi!” You must make a Junbi Sogi (준비 서기) stance. You have this position before beginning an exercise, a movement, a tul, or a sparring match. It helps you focus, stabilize your body, and stay ready to act. It allows you to focus, stabilize your body, and be ready to act.

The position is almost the same as Junbi, but with your hands behind your back.

  • Be relaxed and attentive to your instructor.
